⚠️

Standard Sponsored Ranks Data is being retired on July 8th due to quality issues.

We track where products appear in Amazon search results for specific keywords. This includes both organic rankings (natural placement) and sponsored rankings (ads like Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands).

TLDR:

  • Amazon Standard Sponsored Ranks Data is being retired due to quality issues on July 8th.
  • An optional premium alternative for Sponsored Keywords is now available as a paid add-on.
  • Your current subscription continues with all other features and improvements intact.
  • Impacted datasets/dashboards: Search Power BI Dashboard, Analytics Essentials Looker Studio Dashboard, SEO.SEO_PRODUCT_SPONSORED_RANK table, any custom report built on top of this data
  • Walmart Sponsored Ranks are not impacted

What Changed

Amazon has recently made it significantly more complex and expensive to collect sponsored rank data accurately, due to evolving content policies and increased detection mechanisms. As a result, the quality and consistency of sponsored rankings in Standard Keywords has declined.

Our Response

Introducing Premium Keywords

To address this, we've upgraded our sponsored ranking systems to ensure accuracy, but this comes with much higher technical costs. To maintain quality and sustainability, we are now offering two types of keyword tracking:

Unit TypeOrganic RanksSponsored RanksSearch DepthNotes
Standard KeywordsYesBest-effort only (being deprecated on July 8th)5 PagesCost-efficient organic tracking only. Sponsored ranks are being retired.
Premium KeywordsYesSponsored Products & Sponsored BrandsOrganic: 5 Pages
Sponsored: 2 PagesAccurate and fully supported. Ideal for complete visibility.

We kept Standard Keywords focused on organic results to keep tracking cost-effective when paid data isn't necessary. For advertisers and teams needing complete visibility, Premium Keywords are now available as a paid add-on.

Impact on Dashboards & Data Tables

As of July 8th, standard sponsored rank data will be fully removed from the following datasets and dashboards:

  • Search Power BI Dashboard
  • Analytics Essentials Looker Studio Dashboard
  • SEO.SEO_PRODUCT_SPONSORED_RANK table in the database
  • Any custom dashboard, query, or report built using the sponsored rank fields in Standard Keywords

You will continue to see organic rankings as normal. If you wish to continue tracking sponsored rankings, you will need to enable Premium Keywords.

What's Next

Important: You cannot mix Standard and Premium Keywords within the same workspace. The upgrade to Premium happens at the workspace level.
